“Jason Goode elicits solid performances all around…effective, and highly restrained… in its evocation of the long, crippling, agonizing fate that awaits (some of) its lead players.” – Variety

TORONTO, February 9, 2016 – On the heels of its Whistler and Busan screenings, BC-set thriller NUMB is set to kick off its theatrical run with the Canadian Indie Film Series at Landmark Cinemas across Canada on March 2, 2016, opening theatrically March 4 in Toronto, New Westminster, Kelowna, Nanaimo, Whitby, Ottawa/Kanata and Winnipeg, with Regina opening March 11, and more cities to follow.

Select cities including New Westminster, Winnipeg and Kelowna will feature post screening Q&A’s with members of the cast and crew.

When a couple in financial distress discover a set of GPS coordinates that promise to lead to stolen gold, they must team up with a pair of mysterious hitchhikers to enter the remote winter wilderness and recover the coins.

NUMB isn’t simply a film about a treasure hunt. As Will (Jamie Bamber) and Dawn (Stefanie von Pfetten) search for lost gold, audiences glimpse the underlying motivations for the hunt and the lies each character uses to hide their flaws. In a pursuit aimed to solve the shortcomings of their lives, getting what they want may not solve their problems.

NUMB is Canadian director Jason R. Goode’s feature film debut. Previous works include short films The Hitchhiker, Pop Switch, The Planting and Late. Late was selected by Telefilm Canada for its Perspectives Canada Program at the Cannes Marché du Film. Goode is also a theatre director, receiving a Jessie nomination for his direction of Danny and the Deep Blue Sea.

“On the surface a film about chasing gold is often interpreted as being about greed,” notes director Goode. “But in reality greed is a symptom of some other deeper lack. In the case of NUMB the central ‘disease’ of the four main characters is pride: finding your identity in what you are capable of.”

“The dynamics of pride is what attracted me to this project,” Goode continues. “It was a chance to delve into the deeper compulsions that drive us to do one of the most common yet insane things we can do as human beings: risk our relationships and wellbeing for “security”. Yet we do this all the time, don’t we?”

NUMB stars British fan favourite Jamie Bamber (“Battlestar Galactica”, “Law & Order UK”), Stefanie von Pfeten (Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, “Cracked”), Aleks Paunovic (Personal Effects, This Means War), Marie Avgeropoulos (“The 100”) and Colin Cunningham (“Falling Skies”).

“NUMB brings together excitement, beautiful B.C. landscapes and the opportunity for introspection,” notes A71 Entertainment President Chad Maker, “The film delivers brilliant nail-biting tension.”

NUMB is written by Andre Harden and directed by Jason R. Goode.
